Program
Dr. Roel van Klink - Research scientist at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) in Leipzig.
- A biodiversity specialist, he is particularly interested in the evolution of insects, which are key organisms for the functioning of ecosystems.
- His work contributes to a better understanding of the complexity of life and produces essential knowledge for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
Clément Mlay - PhD student at the University of Bern and the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology.
- He studies Lake Victoria cichlids, extremely diverse and colorful fish, and their role in the functioning of ecosystems.
- He is more broadly interested in the use of bioinformatics to better understand species biodiversity.
Laurence Paoli - Conservation communications specialist and author of essays on nature.
- She is particularly interested in the impacts of human-generated noise on marine creatures, an issue that is still little known to the general public.
- Her latest book, Le chant perdu des baleines (The Lost Song of the Whales), explores how noise pollution is gradually drowning out the voices of the ocean.
Sandy Mermod - Nature management engineer and geographer specializing in development studies.
- She is program manager at the Association for the Development of Protected Areas (ADAP), an organization that works to improve the living conditions of rural communities while preserving the ecosystems that surround them.
- Committed to the protection of a wide variety of animal species, she will address the central issue of conflict between humans and wildlife.
Prof. Nadir Alvarez - Director of the Naturéum (Cantonal Museum of Natural Sciences of the State of Vaud) and associate professor at the University of Lausanne.
- A specialist in evolutionary biology and ecology, he is particularly interested in conservation issues in the face of the biodiversity crisis.
- Co-author of the book Bringing Extinct Species Back to Life?, his work questions genetic engineering and our relationship with the natural world.
Claude Martin - Former Director General of WWF International, he has devoted more than 55 years to the history and evolution of conservation.
- A specialist in tropical rainforests, he played a key role in transforming WWF in the face of growing environmental challenges.
- His vision for the future of conservation sheds light on the evolution of an organization that has shifted its focus from species protection to ecosystems, climate, and sustainable development.
