CITES

Convention on international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora

WONDERFUL MEMORIES, BUT...

Every year, hundreds of millions of wild animals and plants fall victim to illegal trade. This traffic has a large impact on the survival of species and contributes to their extinction.

Many animal and plant species are being protected and their importation is regulated or even strictly forbidden. All imports must be authorized by the Federal Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (FSVO).

The ban does not stop at live specimens, but includes any dead individual or part thereof, such as ivory jewellery or snakeskin shoes. Any violation can result in heavy fines.

All the items shown below have been seized in Switzerland.

When traveling, never buy live animals, even if you find them miserable, because once purchased they will be immediately replaced by others from the wild.
